The original owners, high school buddies Tony Kalanj
and Derek Chung, opened the Marine Pub 18 years ago. They have
now opened up their own brewery at the Marine Pub with the help
of Vancouver-based BIGBREWS TECHNOLOGIES
INC. (www.bigbrews.com), which has installed their unique “Total
Premium Brewing System.” “For our customers, we’re
proud to serve the freshest, all Natural beer in Burnaby with
no
preservatives or additives,” says Kalanj. “It’ll
be crisp, cold and refreshing. What’s more exciting is that
the customers will be able to watch the complete brewing process
through the addition of new windows we installed inside the pub.

Big Brews System is a micro brew turnkey
system which helps to create affordable in-house brewing
capabilities. With this system, Marine Pub will be able
to offer its customers the freshest house-brews.
There’s nothing better than a tall glass of freshly
brewed beer, and that’s just what the Marine Pub –
or should we say the
Marine Pub & Brewhouse – will be serving up on
Tuesday, March 9 at 5 p.m.
“There’s no question about it,” says
Kalanj, adding that “the “BIGBREWS Brewmaster
monitors the complete brewing process and quality at all
times through their RCMS (remote control monitoring system(
via the internet.” “A beer so fresh, you’ll
want to slap it,” jokes Chung.
The pair launches their first two new brews, Marine Pale
Ale and Marine Genuine Draft on March 9, 2004 at
5 p.m. “Not only will the beer be deliciously
fresh,” Chung says, “but it will also complement
the Marine Pub & Brewhouse’s new menus as well.”
